EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help the brain process traumatic memories so they no longer cause emotional distress. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on changing how a memory is stored rather than just discussing it.

EMDR in the sand tray can also be used. I use this as another way to access the memory networks, drawing on training from Ana Gomez, Sandtray-based Therapy in EMDR in London, UK, 2025.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based, non-pathologizing psychotherapy developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s. It conceptualizes the human mind as a complex system of "parts"—subpersonalities that each have their own perspective, emotions, and roles.

Unlike many traditional therapies that aim to eliminate "bad" behaviors, IFS operates on the core principle that there are no bad parts. Instead, even the most disruptive parts are viewed as having protective intentions that were forced into extreme roles by past trauma or stress.

Individualized Therapy

Though I have training and experience with specific strategies and modalities, I believe that each client’s needs are different. We work together to navigate the best treatment plan for you.

Play therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach specifically designed to help children express what is troubling them when they do not yet have the verbal language to communicate complex thoughts and feelings. In this modality, toys function like the child's words, and play is their natural language.
